TalkTalk or Origin Switch to Utility Warehouse

Partner disclosure: Smart Bill Switch is operated by an independent Utility Warehouse Partner. This independent guide does not manage provider-led account migrations.

Some TalkTalk and Origin broadband customers have been notified that their account is moving to Utility Warehouse. Follow the account-specific notice sent to you and verify unexpected messages through official provider contact details.

What happens to my Direct Debit?

Official UW guidance says affected TalkTalk customers are set up on UW systems and their Direct Debit continues in line with UW's collection date. Check the first UW statement and do not cancel payments early.

Do I need a new UW Wi-Fi Hub?

Your migration instructions should say whether existing equipment continues to work or a new UW Wi-Fi Hub is being supplied. Keep old equipment until the provider confirms whether it must be returned.

Can I add energy or mobile?

A broadband migration does not require you to add another service. Treat energy or mobile as a separate decision: compare annual cost, the Ofgem price cap, service terms, smart meter requirements and bundle eligibility.

Frequently asked questions

Should I cancel my old Direct Debit?

Do not cancel it early. Follow the official migration notice and check the first UW statement and the previous provider's final statement.

What if an Origin migration date changes?

Official guidance says affected customers should receive a revised notice and remain on their Origin tariff and terms until the confirmed migration date.

How do I check an unexpected message?

Do not use a link or number in a suspicious message. Verify it through contact details published by the relevant provider.
